An economist by education, I am currently Professor of Urban Studies at the Academy of Architecture - USI.
Since the early 1980s I have carried out research and consulting activities from an interdisciplinary perspective in the fields of urban and regional development, strategic planning for cities and towns, public investment evaluation. In recent years I have written – or contributed to – policy reports among others for the Italian Central Administration, the European Commission, the European Investment Bank and the OECD.
From 2013 to 2016 – in its initial experimental phase – I coordinated the International Doctoral Programme in Urban Studies of the Gran Sasso Science Institute (L’Aquila). From 1981 to 2013 I taught at the Faculty of Economics "Giorgio Fuà" (Ancona, Italy), where I studied and consolidated my interdisciplinary perspective. I hold teaching appointments at the University of Macerata (1992-1995) and the “Friedrich Schiller” University of Jena, Germany (2000-2009).
